A Bit About Me

My love for playing music stretches back to the age of four when I took up recorder with such enthusiasm that my mother recalls me taking my recorder on a family camping trip to practice every morning at 7am!

I went to Saturday morning music school for many years where I learned violin and piano before taking up clarinet and tenor sax in my teens. I discovered my love for performing aged 12 as part of the cast of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at the Mercury Theatre in Colchester.

I later joined various bands and orchestras performing in musicals and shows at Cambridge University and the Royal Festival Hall. After a break to study at university and then start a family I took up music again, and have since added alto and soprano sax to the mix as well as returning to recorder and singing.

Since moving to Norwich I have played and performed in many concerts and gigs with various orchestras, ensembles, big bands, function bands, and recorder groups. I also sing and perform in a choir. I share my love of music with my two sons who play jazz piano and tenor sax.

I enjoy listening to all kinds of music. Some favourite jazz influences are Duke Ellington, Chet Baker, Bill Evans, Stan Getz, Paul Desmond, as well as vocalists such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Alice Babbs.
